1. STUCK or FREE? Imagination grows when you focus on possibilities rather than problems. For instance, when your basal ganglia or mental storehouse overflows with past problems, failures, anxieties or unmet expectations, it slows down progress. SHAKE UP RUTS by applying innovative approaches in the following ways ~Store lively new possibilities that offer benefits to all and your brain will begin to default to these new experiences. For instance, add classical music in the background to increase focus. Sketch a solution or proposal after a sizzling discussion or hot topic – then share tangible benefits a person who differs with you will love. Walk along a stream or sit near water and ask yourself key questions such as, What can I learn from this and do differently for better outcomes? Oh, why not teach a few main details to your dog as a way to help you lock-in possibilities and remember through activating imagination. Dogs love attention and brains store whatever you teach.

2. SMILE or SNEER? Everyday stressors tend to rob smile-worthy adventures of learning through imagination’s wider vistas. When serotonin (the brain’s well being chemical that boosts enzymes) gets depleted you lose your  zest for finding solutions. Serotonin regulates the brain’s pathways to solutions so that you can apply clear thinking even when difficulties try to tank you. Under what conditions does imagination work best for you?

Choices you make about contentment can amp up imagination’s help in the following ways ~Laugh at yourself and laugh whenever you make a mistake – in order to fuel contentment and raise takeaways you’ll imagine before you realize. Your actions (such as exchanging panicked preparations for an imaginary fun get-together) literally reshape the brain mentally and physically, for more of the same. In other words, your brain’s plasticity reshapes dreaded encounters, into imaginative exchanges. What would imagination change most for you and how so?

5. STRESS or SOLUTIONS?  Sadly, we fall into disadvantages daily whenever our brains fuel with cortisol, a stress chemical. How so? Cortisol comes with and is exacerbated through fear, regret, stress, anxiety, or disappointment. The results? Imagination shuts down, anxiety increases, and negative reactions replace solutions or imagination that advances you.

CHASE AWAY CORTISOL that can literally shrink your brain, lead to illness or shave years off your life. Imagination is rarely part of a desire to be perfect, but will support your next new step in the direction of excellence. Imagination takes time to engage – so avoid last minute anything and imagine ahead the concrete success you crave in any situation. Surround yourself with people who focus on possibilities more and vent less about problems so that imagination will kick in with solutions that benefit you and others. Laugh, laugh, laugh! Smile at flaws to chase away cortisol – and refuel with imagination’s chemicals for well being. Oh, thank people, forgive missteps and refuse to blame for mistakes or shortcomings, to keep imagination alive when you need it most. 6. EMOTIONAL BALANCE or BUST?
Walk into a grueling situation with an untamed amygdala (the seat of your emotions) expect few solutions or skills. The amygdala stores all problematic emotional responses such as bullying, cheating, worrying, or rejecting others that emerge to block your imagination’s effectiveness. This tiny sac of neurons acts like a lightning rod for people who’ve met many emotional failures. Store emotions you’d like others to see in you, by responding with your imaginative expectations and expect emotional health to follow next time you need its elixir.

RAISE EMOTIONAL IQ by imagining cool responses that improve what you store in your amygdala. Hang out with friends who illumine good moods, or try tone skills such as thanking others, disagreeing respectfully, listening to and learning from people who differ. Wondering where to start?

Imagine opposite reactions to anger, moodiness, displeasure, and your amygdala  learns to relax and tackle problems with positive moods. Act on moods that create possibilities for all, and engage imagination to  tame amygdala reactions that create emotional panic, anxiety, or discouragement.
