Target to Reboot Your Brain

We’ve all seen people who know where they are headed, and others who are headed nowhere. Human brains are equipped with capabilities to achieve more when focused on clear concrete goals, and yet surprisingly slanted at times to lose sight of these goals.  How so?

Target a specific goal and watch the synergy in your brain begin to narrow any gaps between your current position and  high-marks to which you are headed. At its peak performance, the brain focuses in ways that keep you on track. In spite of setbacks or distractions that knock an unfocused person off track, the targeted brain visualizes clear details of a keen overviews, that inspire mind-bending efforts to achieve.

In contrast, the stressful,  fearful, or anxious brain pulls you in many directions. Similarly, the brain that defaults back to basal ganglia ruts, rarely targets new or cutting edge priorities without written targets as a visual impetus to move past daily distractions.

Imagine a university class, secondary school class, or staff meeting where every participant sees clear targets of what they will takeaway,  and you’ll also see how targets impact learning and growth. Always expressed in specifics takeaways, people tend to achieve more and trip over interruptions less with targets.

In light of so many tired and broken systems that daily turn top efforts sour, targets offer far more brainpower for success, not because they remind us of people’s past efforts, but precisely because they do not.

If you’ve been too busy lately,  or unmotivated to reach a peak you’d once dreamed of achieving, why not add that target into a doable list for today. Your brain will do the rest.
